Consumer electronics wholesaler Centrex (Aust) Pty Ltd and its affiliate company Advanced (Aust) Pty Ltd have gone into liquidation, and Jirsch Sutherland has been appointed liquidator.Formed in 1992, Centrex distributed audiovisual, laundry and kitchen appliances to customers such as The Good Guys, Betta Electrical and Chandlers.
"Brisbane-based electrical retailer and franchisor Betta Electrical Stores reported a loss of up to &2.3 million for the December 31 half-year." It doesn't surprise me at all. If a retailer treats its customers badly, no doubt its business will suffer.
I bought a brand new Centrex 100L freezer from Betta Electrical at Archerfield QLD on 25/07/2005 After using for two days I found that the noise from the motor was unbearable, so I took it back to Betta Electrical. However the Betta Electrical shop owner refused to take the freezer back. He said I should contact Centrex Customer Care. His attitute was also very rude.
I contacted Centrex Customer Care (in NSW) immediately and was told I had two choices: (1) return it to the retailer, and (2) they can arrange a technician to look at it, but I have to pay service fee if no faulty was found. I asked her: "What is the definition for faulty? The freezer is running but the problem is it's too noisy". She did not answer my question, instead she gave me ABC Electrical's phone number (Centrex's service agent in Brisbane) and suggested I speak to the technician there. However the technician who answered my call said to me he would call me back after talking to Centrex. He never called me back. But anyway both Betta Electrical and Centrex treated me like a football.
Next day I spoke to somebody at Customer Service of Betta Electrical Head Office in Brisbane. He stated that the Betta Electrical is a franchise business which doesn't have a warehouse. As a result he was unable to replace the freezer or find the same product from other Betta Electrical shops for me. He suggested I contact Department of Fair Trading and Centrex.
I now realised how retailers and whole sellers/manufraturers joint together to sell lemon and make dirty money.
Betta Electrical Archerfield QLD is located at 901-903 Beaudesert Road, Archerfield. Ph 3277 8570. Its owner Mr Mucury Leong also owns and runs Beep World (a factory second electrical shop) and a product services in the same premises. Note: I'm not saying that he sells secondhand goods or refurbished goods through his Betta Electrical outlet, although these three shops have the same address.
